Website Design by Helpful Design

Have you ever considered what it is like to browse the web without being able to see it?

A well designed website should be accessible to everyone including people using alternative browsers, or visually impaired people using screen-reading software. I build websites using the latest stylesheet-based design process to provide a website design that is visually stunning, efficient and accessible.

Why Bother With Accessibility?

As well as helping disabled users, an accessible website has other advantages too. Its content is collected more easily by search engines, allowing it to be indexed more effectively and it can be used on minority browsers that don't support all the "whizz-bang", maximising your target audience.

There are business benefits too. There are an estimated 2 million people in the UK with sight problems, and it is estimated the spending power of disabled people is £50-80 billion a year (source: RNIB). Besides, it's only fair, and the Disability Discrimination Act of 1995 makes it law to be fair!

Using This Site

Use the Text Only link at the bottom of the page to see the text-only version. Click the Text and Images link to return to the visual design.

There are a number of designs for this site that you can cycle through. One of these is called Easy Access and provides a high contrast, large-text view.

The sites I build can also be navigated using shortcut access keys, information about which can be found by clicking the Accessibility link at the bottom of the page, or pressing access key 0.
